I am the lady behind Promote Commotion.
I have been posting events and businesses for close to 9 years.
I rarely say anything of a personal message other than highly recommending one of the events or great businesses I post about.

A little background on how Promote Commotion started.
I have always created fundraisers for many causes. From my children's school activities as part of Booster Clubs to raising funds for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life for many years.Working with organizations to help out who I could. Carilion Children's was the recipient of several fundraiser events I held along with The Aware Foundation. Most were for either a kids organization or cancer.

When my company closed down in VA and my job was no longer, I took it as a sign that it may have happened for a reason.

My partner had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer in 2005. She was given 6 months to live. She fought and survived that time but it was not easy. Still so many issues from lungs not working and makes it very hard. She was struggling and I took it as I now had time to spend with just her. Get quality time for whatever time she had left.

I of course had to not feel helpless so once again, formed a team and had events for my Relay for Life team in honor of her and so many more.

As I was going around getting donations for this event for raffles, I met many small business owners who donated freely and I had to make sure others knew just how great they were. I started posting on my personal page and realized maybe I should start a page just for that. It grew and grew to where people offered to pay me to continue posting about their business or event daily.

Fast Forward..a few more years...her cancer had then gone to her brain. She was one of the lucky ones who had the cyber-knife treatment and survived that too.

Unlike the mass in her chest and lungs, they got it out of her brain.
Now to present time....Breast Cancer~~
This tumor was removed but her numbers are not good at all. Her recurrence rate is extremely high as well.  Treatment has started.  This time the side effects are awful because of all the prior radiation and chemo drugs in the past. Her body is tired. She is tired.
A strong woman who has fought hard and keeps fighting is trying to make it through this next 6 months of horrible days and nights.
She is on Disability due to her disease and I try to make what I can through Promote Commotion. (I only charge $50 a month so you do the math)  Budgeting is hard enough, but add the chemo pills, the meds to help with side effects and the wonderful  CBD oil is all very very expensive.

I had planned to try to sell some items, or do a yard sale but then was warned that due to the immunity factor I shouldn't risk meeting folks who may not think about a cold or cough but could cause her major problems. My daughter n law offered to list and meet people to help me. These items are listed below.

Now to get to the point of this open letter about our personal life.

A very kind and good friend Laura Allie started a gofund me page for my family.
By the time she had told me about it, there were a few donations. I was thankful, but still did not like it nor did my partner as we always figure it out, always find a way and we are the ones who have always been there to help others, not get help. This is not easy on us!
Some have sent messages asking if it was legit and will we receive the donations. I felt the need to confirm this so they know that this young lady did indeed want to help us out. She has always been here to help us in some way or another. I am not mad at her, and we are both touched she wanted to do something to help and  that she did this.

This is not a request for you to donate to this cause. This is not me begging for  help. This is more for people to know when you see it that it was done from the heart and not by us.  IT WAS DONE OUT OF LOVE! SO...to end this.

Thanks to all who follow Promote Commotion on all our sites. my blogs, on twitter, instagram, and every site I post these small and local business owners as well as the events I do for the followers to know what is happening.
Thanks for sticking by us, thanks for supporting small businesses and local events and please if you see the gofund me site....don't think bad of the person who started it. Please just understand when you feel helpless you will do just about anything to make a difference.

PS~~ To those who donated....THANK YOU!
Thank you Laura for caring!

Losing so many....CANCER SUCKS

Image result for when you lose a friend to cancer

I wake up to this as a memory on Facebook
This is who she was....always thinking of others.

I got up this morning hoping it was a bad dream.
It wasn't. She is gone.
She is out of pain, no more fighting and no longer tired.
I am happy for that.
I am sad for all those who she left behind.
Those who loved her
Needed her

There were many.
She brought strength and joy to most every day.
To those she loved and to those she never met.
Her humor was always there.
She never felt sorry for herself.
She only wanted to make other smile, laugh and she did.

She is not the 1st friend I have lost to this disease.
Nor will she be the last.

We love her, now, then and always.
I will always keep her in my heart.
She is a hero.

Places stay open because of YOU today!

Monday~~ Feb 15th~This was the first thing we see on social media in Roanoke, VA today.
But don't worry, for all of you who are out on the streets looking for places to eat, places to play and places to go because your work closed, you have caused many to have to go out in this snowstorm to serve you.

The all mighty dollar wins again.

Let's just have everyone find a way to go to work to feed those who want to go play.
The cars on on the side of the roads, and you want breakfast?

You work at Valley View, they are closed,  so that gives you time to go out which makes these businesses afraid to lose that all mighty dollar from YOU.

These guys who are forced to work because all of you think your day off means you should go out in the mess that closed your work down and for each and everyone of you (minus the snow plow folks, weather folks and emergency folk) are the reasons people will wreck today, get hurt today and children will lose their parents today.

Every day starts out like this....

This poor dog is put outside and left for hours.
No water, no food, and he barks the entire time
I have loads of video and pictures only because when we called when he got stuck on all the crap in the yard and couldn't go but 1 foot either way. The warden told us there was nothing he could do.

He visited them, explained that the dog was a nusiance (never mentioned not having food, water or shelter for all those hours) and that we could take them to court.

Seems the courts have taken it over. In order for us to proceed and try to protect the dog and ourselves from the constant barking, we have to document and then proceed to the court house and file charges.

If you know us, we don't like drama, nor do we have the energy and will to go through all of that.
Having neighbors who mistreat their animals, or kids is not how I want to spend the rest of my life.
Diana is sick. She may go to sleep at 6AM by the time she can get the medicine to work and he heart to cooperate and let her sleep.
The dog starts usually at 10 am daily.

BTW.  She has to have window open so she can breathe. Even through the winter. The neighbors know of her condition, and it seems they for some reason think it is funny to continue to let the dog and the kids scream under this window.
They do have a huge back yard where the dogs could run, play and be outside.
But, as you can see, they open the door, put him on a short leash and slam the door behind them.

There are two dogs, one lives behind this one. She also put the dog out for hours with no food, water or shelter when it was hot or cold. They both only do it when the men are away during the day. The back lady either got fired or hurt and has had someone with her for a month, and funny but the dog is NEVER put out on a short leash anymore.

I feel sorry for the dogs. They don't deserve being thrown outside, both being small dogs and then just let them bark non stop, cry to get inside, and making my otherwise quiet existence put me in a bad mood each and every day .

This is a rental, and the landlord was my son's landlord. He wasn't allowed pets when he lived there. So when they moved in and we asked her about the dog, she said that it wasn't theirs, they were just watching it for someone. This has been over a year ago. She lied to us, which shows she doesn't care what they do as long as she gets her rent.

I am at my wit's end. It is hard just to say we will move. We own the house, they rent. We live close enough to the hospital that it saved Diana's life already. We can't just pick up and leave, and why should we have to? I have the documentation, but I hate the thought of having to go to court for any reason. But, this dog is either going to get hurt, or die. Diana can't rest due to the barking, and she is getting so aggravated, i am worried about her.

I can't take much more. I shouldn't have to.
